Alasdair is the newest addition and joined the team at the end of 2023. Before joining The Natural Way, Alasdair was the Remote Operation Centre Superintendent for Fugro in Aberdeen, playing a key role in developing new working practices and technology, helping to shape the future and transition of a sustainable low carbon offshore industry. Working with management teams globally within Fugro, regulatory bodies in the UK and abroad, a diverse client base and a workforce in transition. Alasdair was able to use his broad skill set to help with many industry firsts, including the first remote subsea Platform Inspection in the North Sea and the roll-out of the first Uncrewed Surface Vessel (USV) with a Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) in the world to operate commercially.
Alasdair began his career in the offshore industry at the beginning of 2012, working in the Subsea Inspection and Survey field, gaining valuable experience in the Oil and Gas Industry. Working throughout the North Sea, West Africa, Baltic Sea, Black Sea and Mediterranean Sea on Vessels and Platforms. The skills acquired accumulated in running complex multi-disciplinary vessel-based Inspection and Survey campaigns.
Alasdair also has a practical background, having trained, and worked as a wooden boatbuilder as far afield as New Zealand. Before this, he was a Firefighter based at a station that specialised in Road Safety Training. This involved travelling to schools and large businesses, delivering road safety training and demonstrations alongside the traditional Firefighter role. Out of the workplace, Alasdair has been an active climber for 25 years traveling around the world in its pursuit. However, he is now happiest at home, climbing and mountain biking in Scotland, alongside studying Psychology through the Open University.
